The knitting experience in culture, history, and daily life

IMG_4926Knitting was first introduced to me at Norwegian language camp where I learned my numbers by counting stitches and rows. Since then, knitting, language, history, and culture have all been intertwined in my life.  While living and teaching English in Latvia with the Peace Corps I saw such beautiful, skilled, and creative hand-knitting, it sparked my interest in the history of knitting there and around the world. This blog is a place for me to record my observations on readings about knitting and to see how my own knitting experience fits into the story.
